Prem refs could be banned from officiating certain matches after investigation
Premier League referees could be blocked from officiating matches outside of FIFA or UEFA appointments in a review of policy.
The fallout of the VAR blunder caused by Darren England and Dan Cook during Liverpool's Premier League contest against Tottenham included details of England's appointment in UAE 48 hours earlier. That came before the PGMOL released the audio of how glaring error was reached.
As part of their extended statement, the PGMOL said: "PGMOL and The FA have also agreed to review the policy to allow match officials to officiate matches outside of FIFA or UEFA appointments."

The audio, which was released on Tuesday after a formal request from Liverpool, showed how the decision was made. The audio includes the voices of the linesman, who flags for offside as well as the VAR and assistant VAR who checking with the lines and finding quickly that Diaz was well onside.
The call of check complete follows, with the replay operator then telling the team that the on-field decision was in fact offside – meaning they failed to intervene.

One of the officials then swears before it is insisted that they couldn't take any action after the game had been restarted with a Spurs free-kick. The PGMOL statement added: "We recognise standards fell short of expectations and acknowledged the error to Liverpool immediately after the conclusion of the fixture."
Fans noticed during the released audio that unaware referee Simon Hooper had congratulated his colleagues. Hooper can be heard saying: "Well done boys, good process." The replay operator then calls for the VAR duo to pause the fixture – as they insist they cannot do so due to the rules of VAR.
