Real Madrid have pulled out of the race to sign Erling Haaland, according to reports. Manchester United and Manchester City are among the Premier League clubs to have been alerted to Real’s latest decision. Los Blancos instead will focus all their attention on completing a deal for Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland has again been in sensational goalscoring form this season.

The Borussia Dortmund star has 16 goals and five assists to his name in 14 Bundesliga appearances.

But despite his prolific nature in front of goal, he can be purchased for a transfer fee of as little as £67million this summer.

Haaland’s release clause becomes active at the end of the season and there is understandably a long list of clubs who are interested.

But, according to the Daily Star, Real are no longer one of them.

The report claims, despite a low transfer fee, a deal for Haaland would cost an overall £300m.

Real can not afford that amount and will instead just sign Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

United and City, as well as Chelsea and Liverpool, have been made aware of Real’s decision to pull out of a move for Haaland by the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

United could be in the market for a striker if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves just one year into his second spell at the club.

City have also been in the market for a new frontman, failing to complete a deal for England captain Harry Kane last summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side did complete a deal to sign Julian Alvarez last week. The Argentine will join up with City next season so that could throw into doubt their plans to sign another forward.

The Star claims Barcelona is the preferred destination for Haaland.

However, a move to the Nou Camp has been made more tricky following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival.

Aubameyang joined Barca on a free transfer from Arsenal last week, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Despite Aubameyang lowering his wage demands, Barca would find it hard bringing in a player with the financial outlay of Haaland as well.

Real would prefer Haaland to move to England and hope alerting the Premier League giants of their decision now will push the forward to the Premier League rather than rivals Barca.
