Footballing icon Cristiano Ronaldo could be in for a sensational return to Manchester United after he was photographed with Ferrari F1 drivers Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has often been linked with a move away from Juventus this season, but rumours may have become reality as the Portuguese looks to be preparing to move away from Turin.
Reports have surfaced of discontent among Ronaldo’s teammates at the Allianz Stadium, who are fed up of the special treatment that the 36-year-old is receiving at the club.
If his £540k-a-week contract wasn’t enough to make the dressing room atmosphere a bit frosty, the Portugal captain was recently given a day off from training to pay a visit to Ferrari’s famous Maranello factory.
The latest twist in the tale came on Monday, when Ronaldo travelled to Modena to reportedly collect or order the latest addition to his glittering supercar collection, the Ferrari Monza SP2.
The five-time Champions League winner met with Juve president Andrea Agnelli before posing for photographs with Ferrari’s Formula One drivers Leclerc and Sainz Jr.
If Ronaldo does bring the SP2 back to his garage, it may not stay in Turin for long, as his supercar collection was spotted being packed away on this week.
His Bugatti, Maserati and Mercedes jeep were all seen being loaded into a trailer by mechanics employed by a Lisbon-based company.
While Ronaldo’s mother recently promised to convince her son to move back to Sporting Lisbon, it remains unlikely that the Portuguese champions could afford him.
Instead, a move back to Old Trafford could be on the cards, according to United legend Gary Pallister.
“I could see him coming back,” Pallister told Compare.bet. “He had a great time at Old Trafford, and coming back here would suit Cristiano with Juve struggling with Champions League qualification.”
“He didn’t have issues here the first time round under the leadership of Sir Alex, and you can see that he still looks after himself and has that hunger.
“He still wants to compete at the top level and play Champions League football, and if he comes to United you have to find a place for Cristiano Ronaldo.”
