Ronaldo tips two exciting players from "new generation" to be world stars

Cristiano Ronaldo says he hopes he's created a legacy that will be followed long after he finally hangs up his boots, while he has tipped two modern day stars to be the names we all keep talking about for years to come.

The Portuguese superstar recently scored his 100th goal for Juventus having moved to Italy from Real Madrid in 2019, continuing a remarkable goal-filled career that took him from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United and then Real, for whom he scored a barely believable 450 goals in 438 games.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has also scored 103 goals for his country, and he's in no doubt about how he wants to be remembered.

Speaking at his unveiling as LiveScore’s Official Global Brand Ambassador, Ronaldo said: “I hope that I will be remembered as one of the great players, someone that worked hard, that always did his best to help his team and will be part of the history of the game.”

And as for the stars of the future, then Ronaldo is in no doubt about who he expects to see succeed.

When asked to name the one player he expects to see dominate on the global scale he had to name two, perhaps with an eye on the type of rivalry he has enjoyed with Lionel Messi over the years.

“It is hard to choose just one player to say this one will be the best, but I think it is exciting to see this new generation of young players, like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, who are coming through," he said.

“Some players can have one or two great seasons, the really great players are the ones that keep doing it season after season, and that is not so easy to do. It takes a lot of hard work, and a lot of commitment.”

He'd know all about that of course, and he's not finished yet.
