Wayne Rooney has been snapped after touching down in Washington as he prepares to take the DC United job.
Rooney has been out of work since he made the decision to walk away from Derby County back in June after Chris Kirchner's proposed takeover of the club collapsed. However, the former Manchester United and England star is closing in on a return to management in the MLS.
According to a new report from The Washington Post, Rooney has agreed terms to become DC United's new head coach – just two-and-a-half years after he ditched the American side to return to England with the Rams.

Rooney spent two seasons in the MLS after leaving Everton in the summer of 2018 and notched 25 goals in 52 appearances across two seasons with DC United.
It remains to be seen how Rooney's wife, Coleen, will react to news given that she appears to be less than taken with Washington. Although she has never criticised the city publicly, texts she shared with Rebekah Vardy in the recent Wagatha Christie trial hint that Coleen was not the biggest fan of the US capital.
DC United have been without a permanent manager since April after Hernan Losada was axed. But their misery has continued in recent weeks and they were left humiliated at the week after being pumped 7-0 by Philadelphia Union.
