Senegalese star Cheikhou Kouyate had to be stretchered off in the African sides opening World Cup clash after being hit in the nether regions.
Kouyate had jumped up to the head the ball, only to be smashed by Frenkie de Jong's fist below the belt. The midfielder fell to the ground, jarring his knee on the way to the floor, which could have caused him to leave the field.
However, on second viewing, some fans joked the injury might have occurred when De Jong smashes Kouyate's nether regions during the play. And fans have joked about the unfortunate injury on Twitter.

One fan joked: "Kouyate getting stretchered off after that challenge. Bloody hell how strong are De Jong's hands!"
"In fairness that probably should have been a card – I'd rather get elbowed in the face than slapped in the nuts mid-air," a second joked. While a third added: "[Did] De Jong crush Kouyate's nuts or what? bro held his balls and now he's being taken off with a stretcher!"
But a fourth superbly joked: "That wasn't a foul on Kouyate, de Jong got the ball!"
