Sheffield Utd fans beg to sign Man City talent permanently after ‘obscene’ goal
Sheffield United fans have begged the club to sign James McAtee permanently after his wonder-goal against Brentford.
The Blades took the lead on the stroke of half-time in Saturday afternoon’s Premier League clash at Bramall Lane. A clumsy clearance by the Bees saw the home side retrieve the ball on the edge of the box, before playing it wide to 21-year-old McAtee.
The Salford-born winger took a touch to control it, got it onto his left foot and floated the ball into the top left hand corner from an acute angle just inside the penalty area. It was a stunning effort to mark the Manchester City loanee’s first Premier League goal.

And fans were left in awe as they took to social media to praise the English youngster’s goal, with some even demanding his season-long move to be made permanent.
One X user responded to the strike by tweeting: “JAMES MCATEE THAT IS OBSCENE!!” while another tweeted: “What a goal from McAtee. Absolutely beautiful.”
A third Blades fan gushed: “STARBOYYY WOWWW.” and a fourth added: “Sign him full time abeg.”

Others agreed, chiming in with: “Excellent player,” and: “Magnificent goal.”
McAtee, who has made just seven senior appearances for City, also spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sheffield United, playing an important part in their promotion to the Premier League. He netted nine league goals in 37 appearances while recording three assists.
His goal on Saturday proved decisive as Sheffield United kept a clean sheet to record a crucial win and secure a much-needed three points. The 20th-placed side are now two points off safety, though both Everton and Luton Town still have a game in hand.
