Steven Gerrard has “started talks” with the Polish football association about the prospect of becoming their next manager.
The Liverpool legend was sacked by Aston Villa in October following their dismal 3-0 defeat to Fulham. He was shown the door by the Midlanders after the club were left floundering in 17th position having only recorded two Premier League victories in ten matches.
However, despite his evident struggles to get the best out of Villa, despite spending more than £100million in the transfer window, Gerrard’s next spell in the dugout may not be too far away.

According to Polish outlet Meczyki, the Poland Football Federation have reached out to Gerrard in recent weeks. Former manager Czeslaw Michniewicz left his post after the Eastern Europeans bowed out of the World Cup at the knockout stages.
They managed to sneak their way out of a group made up of Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and eventual winners Argentina, but were sent crashing out at the Round of 16 stage by tournament runners-up France.
However, Gerrard could very well be the man entrusted with taking over the reins of the Eastern European giants. Reports from Poland have also claimed the ex-Rangers manager is considering the offer.

Poland were also linked with former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, but he was recently named as Fernando Santos' replacement at Portugal.
Saudi manager Herve Renard, who was the only manager to beat Argentina in the World Cup, has also been mentioned, while Vladimir Petkovic and Paulo Bento are also believed to be in the conversation.
The next Poland boss will be responsible for ensuring qualification for the 2024 European Championships in Germany. The Eagles will have to navigate their way past Albania, the Faroe Islands, Moldova, and Czech Republic if they are to qualify for the competition.
