Steven Nzonzi loan to West Ham ‘expected in coming days’ with agent in London

West Ham look poised to bring in Steven Nzonzi on loan as a solution in midfield.

David Moyes is desperate to sign a box-to-box midfielder at the London Stadium to provide proper support for Declan Rice.

The Hammers have lacked legs in the middle of the park and are in real danger of relegation.

Fans have called for the board to spend this month in order to help get them out of trouble.

With nine days remaining of the January transfer window, adding a centre-midfielder to their ranks is being prioritised.

Younger, promising players for the future would be more ideal for Moyes, but that would likely require more funds, so West Ham are looking at Nzonzi and have made him an offer.

The 31-year-old former Stoke and Sevilla star is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Roma.

His ill-fated spell in Turkey, though, is poised to come to an end soon as he has been excluded from the first-team picture there over reported ill-discipline issues in training.

Nzonzi is ready to return to the Premier League, where he enjoyed successful stints with Blackburn and Stoke earlier in his career.

The France international played in the World Cup final too less than two years ago and still has plenty to offer, at least in the short term.

Nzonzi has reached an agreement with West Ham and Moyes to join, according to Turkish outlet Gunes .

And it is said the switch will be formalised in the coming days.

Roma are after a loan fee worth £3.5m, the Daily Mail add.

Nzonzi also has a hefty salary which the Hammers would need to cover.

The player’s representatives are in London this week to sort his future, while Nzonzi also has family in England’s capital.

The plan at West Ham is apparently to initially sign Nzonzi on loan, but it could become a permanent transfer in the summer if he arrives this month and has a productive spell with the east Londoners.
