Thomas Partey is keen to join Arsenal this summer but he has made the decision not to force through a move should his £45million release clause not be met.
Atletico Madrid are refusing to negotiate with Arsenal for the Ghana international as the Gunners want to pay a lower fee.
Mikel Arteta is trying to offload some of his fringe players to raise funds for the 27-year-old.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has already been sold to Aston Villa for £20m so Arsenal have another £25m to find.

The two clubs are in talks over Torreira’s potential move but Goal claims Atletico will not discuss Partey.
One option available to the midfielder is to try and push through his move to the Emirates Stadium by taking the drastic action of striking.

Earlier today Arteta admitted he is still looking to strengthen his squad.
He said: “We are still open to improve our team, we are looking for different options depending on what happens with some of our players here so we are getting prepared just in case we need to do something.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal take on Premier League champions Liverpool on Monday night and Arteta is impressed with how the Reds have carried their form into the new campaign.
