Thomas Tuchel ‘loves’ Chelsea transfer target but Blues may already have missed out on ace

Transfer update: Latest on White, Alaba and Militao

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is a massive fan of Bayern Munich star David Alaba, who is out of contract at the end of the season. However, the Blues may be too late with Real Madrid already winning the race for the defender.

Chelsea boss Tuchel ‘loves’ Bayern Munich defender Alaba, who is out of contract in the summer.

However, it appears the Blues may miss out on the Austria international with his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.

It comes as the German starts to formulate his summer targets with his new club.

Chelsea have already been linked with Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund but a move might be too difficult this summer.

Alaba is another on the club’s shortlist with a defender prioritised and according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tuchel adores him.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at Bayern Munich this summer and no renewal is in sight.

It means he is free to speak to foreign clubs, giving Chelsea a chance of landing him.

But a whole host of European teams are also interested, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, reports emerged earlier this month that a deal has been agreed with Real Madrid.

And though these claims turned out to be somewhat pre-emptive, the Spanish giants are leading the race for the versatile player.

“I think they’ll go for a centre-back. That is the plan for the club,” Romano said on Frank Khalid’s YouTube channel.

“So, the mentality is to go for a top centre-back next summer.

“I think he will go for players from the Bundesliga again like they did for (Timo) Werner and (Kai) Havertz, just because he (Tuchel) knows the league so well.

“I see a lot of rumours about (David) Alaba who Tuchel loves. But he wants to join Real Madrid so it won’t be easy to go this kind of player.”

Nevertheless, Tuchel and Alaba share similar agent ship with some of the manager’s representatives that worked on his move to Chelsea also involved with the Bayern star.
