Manchester City are primed for a big summer transfer window ahead of potentially seeking a third successive Premier League title, but Pep Guardiola will also need to raise funds and cut the salary bill. Express Sport looks at four players who could be part of a summer exodus at City.
Nathan Ake is a competent defender and can play as a centre-back, left-back, and defensive midfielder.
However, with Man City potentially looking to bolster two of those positions, Ake’s game time won’t improve, and given his value, he could help raise funds.
Guardiola sanctioned a £41million deal to sign him from AFC Bournemouth in 2020, but he has started just 15 league games since.
The Citizens can aim to recoup most of what they paid for Ake in the next two transfer windows and use it to buy a player who will feature more regularly.

Amid the disappointing outcome of Man City’s £52m swoop for Benjamin Mendy, Oleksandr Zinchenko has played more than he would’ve expected under Guardiola.
But Joao Cancelo – Mendy’s £60m replacement – has been one of the better full-backs in Europe this season, and Zinchenko has been limited to just over 500 minutes of league football this season.
The Ukraine star could pursue a new challenge this year after a successful stint at Man City, likely to involve more silverware this season.
Cancelo is naturally a right-back, and Guardiola’s past interest in Ben Chilwell and Nuno Mendes suggests he may be eyeing another marquee left-back signing.
Such an outcome would limit Zinchenko’s involvement further, but he has proven himself at the highest level and would help rake in a respectable sum of money.

Fernandinho is out of contract at the end of the season after signing a one-year extension and is widely expected to depart.
It would leave Rodri as Guardiola’s sole defensive midfielder and free up space for a big-money arrival in midfield.
Man City have been linked with Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips, and either would serve as worthy replacements of the club legend.
The Premier League champions will be desperate to prevent losing such an exciting prospect like James McAtee.
However, the 19-year-old midfielder has 18 months left on his current deal, and there are currently no signs he’ll extend terms.
With that said, City could cash in on him this summer and limit their loss by including a buy-back or sell-on clause in the deal.
The Salford-born sensation has already made his Premier League debut and could garner a good transfer fee from those interested in his services.
