‘Tormented’ Marcus Rashford told he needs to leave Man Utd for ‘fresh challenge’

Marcus Rashford has been told he needs to leave Manchester United for a "fresh challenge" by Chris Sutton.

Rashford has had a dire season so far, scoring just twice in 20 games in all competitions for United. His poor form comes off the back of netting 30 goals in 56 games last season in the most prolific campaign of his career.

The England international’s wretched season has seen him dropped to the bench by Erik ten Hag in United’s last two league games, with teenager Alejandro Garnacho more fancied in Rashford’s preferred left-wing role.

Rashford’s form and body language has been a hot topic of discussion so far this season, and speaking to the Daily Mail, Sutton suggested a move away from Old Trafford is what the 26-year-old needs. He said: “He looks tormented at this moment in time. I think for him and his career, I think he looks bored, he looks stale.”

“I think that he's a player who actually needs a move away from Old Trafford and needs a fresh challenge. I think this was a debate doing the rounds a couple of seasons ago where he seems to have lost his way, but he just seems to be meandering along.

“I think there are questions about his work ethic within the team, and I think that that's a totally legitimate question and criticism. I don't think he's working hard enough. “But I think he looks like a player who needs a fresh challenge.”

Off the back of his incredible season last year, Rashford penned a new five-year contract in June, seeing him pocket a basic £300,000 at the club.
