Tottenham manager Antonio Conte could turn his attentions to addressing his goalkeeping situation when the transfer window reopens in January. Current Spurs No 1 Hugo Lloris is out of contract in north London next summer and he may opt to depart the club rather than putting pen-to-paper on a new deal.
Lloris is 34 years old and Conte may want to find a younger shot-stopper with a longer term future in the capital.
Conte must therefore bring in someone who has plenty of years ahead of him in the game, while still possessing the necessary experience to succeed in the high-pressure environment at Tottenham.
And Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford could be the perfect man to tick all of Conte’s boxes.
Pickford is still only 27, but has won 42 caps for England and was the Three Lions’ No 1 during World Cup 2018 and Euro 2020.
The shot-stopper has impressed for England and has produced a string of standout performances for his country.

Pickford was outstanding as the Three Lions reached the Euro 2020 final this summer before losing to Italy after a penalty shootout.
And the keeper was even lauded recently by his main rival for the England number one jersey, Aaron Ramsdale.
“He’s someone who came into the team quite young and inexperienced and the summer he had at the World Cup cemented himself into the team,” Ramsdale said in October.
“I think he’s going to be one of England’s best goalkeepers, given the success he has had with the football team.

“What a character he is as well. He’s a great guy to be around when you are in camp and is always making you smile.

Conte is said to be a big admirer of Pickford and is reportedly keen to line up a deal for the goalkeeper in January.
Pickford’s form for the Toffees has been inconsistent over the years but he has looked sharp over the last 12 months.

And Everton could be open to allowing the ace to depart as it would give them cash to improve other areas of their team.
The Toffees have been in dismal form recently and are freefalling down the Premier League table.
Pickford would set Spurs back big money, with Transfermarkt currently valuing the player at £22.5million.
But Everton are likely to demand much more than that, with Pickford’s contract not due to end until 2024.
Conte therefore needs to decide whether the former Sunderland man is worth splashing the cash on.
