Tottenham stars Gareth Bale and Son Heung-min mock Dele Alli for moment in Marine win

Marine v Tottenham: FA Cup third-round preview

Tottenham stars Gareth Bale and Son Heung-Min clearly enjoyed their routine win over Marine in the FA Cup on Sunday. The two forwards were left on the bench for the majority of the game, but caught the eye of the cameras after one moment involving Dele Alli.

Tottenham were barely troubled against Marine on Sunday.

A first-half hat-trick from Vinicius Jr added to a wonderful Lucas Moura free-kick to give Spurs a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the second period, they appeared to ease off slightly and only found the net once – through 16-year-old Alfie Devine.

Tottenham named a fairly strong side to face Marine, despite the game representing the largest gap between two teams in an FA Cup match ever.

Mourinho opted to rest the likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but still gave minutes to Toby Alderweireld and Alli.

The attacking midfielder has struggled for minutes this season and had been expected to leave the club.

Alli has been criticised by Mourinho for his attitude and failing to take his chances when given minutes.

But he had a solid game against Marine, and will now be hoping for a more regular run in the side.

One moment he’ll want to forget, however, came as he lost his footing in the grass while backpedaling and calling for the ball.

Alli tumbled backwards and went head-over-heels, before sheepishly getting up and checking his studs.

The tumble was caught by the cameras, unfortunately for Alli, and there was no hiding from his team-mates.

Son and Bale were seen on the touchline in fits of laughter, while Bale jokingly claimed Alli was diving as he brandished a fake yellow card.

Alli was replaced by Bale just after the hour mark with Spurs 5-0 up and coasting towards the fourth round.

But Mourinho insisted he was happy with the 24-year-old’s performance, and seemed to indicate he wants him to stay at the club.

He said: “I like very much. I think him and Gedson they were two players who were responsible from minute 10 until minute 75. They were the ones that created. They were the ones with mobility, they were the ones that started that dynamic that created problems for them and goals for us.

“So I’m really happy. Of course he was a little bit cautious, like all of the creative players, they were a little bit afraid of the pitch, of some emotional tackle. But very happy, very professional attitude and a good performance.”
