Chelsea have agreed a deal with Lyon to sign right-back Malo Gusto, though he will remain with the French club for the rest of the season.
Chelsea were keen to bring in a right-back alternative to Reece James and identified 19 year-old France under-21 international defender Gusto.
The Blues were met with initial resistance to their interest from Lyon with president Jean-Michel Aulas publicly declaring Gusto ‘will continue to play’ for Lyon until the end of the season.
Chelsea have agreed to loan back Gusto until the summer to ensure a move can go through.

Only one place to start and that is with Moises Caicedo.
The Brighton star released a statement last night urging the club to let him move for a club record fee.
The Seagulls star has attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe during the transfer window, with a £60million offer from Arsenal the latest bid tabled.
While it is understood that Brighton are keen for the 21-year-old to stay at the club, Caicedo posted a message on his Instagram account on Friday evening, begging the Seagulls to let him leave.
Chelsea have also seen offers rejected for the midfielder this window, with Caicedo’s future looking like the biggest talking point heading into the final days of the window.
