Asked how Suarez managed to conjure two of the three winning goals in his second half performance having looked off the pace in the first half he said: ‘Suarez has incredible numbers for Barcelona.
‘If he’s not 100 per cent outside the area then when he’s in the area he’s 200 per cent and he decides matches.’
Luis Suarez scored twice to help Barcelona past Real Madrid and into the Copa del Rey final
The Barcelona manager admitted his team were lucky to go in at half-time still on level terms.
He added: ‘We were better in the second half. We were not good in the first half. They had the better chances. But we were more decisive in the second half.’ Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari looked shattered by the heavy home defeat.
He admitted: ‘We are sad. We wanted to play the final. We were not ruthless. They were very ruthless.
‘We put a lot into this competition. And we are hurt because we could not reach the final.’ Barcelona scored three times from just four shots on target after Real Madrid had wasted various first-half opportunities.
‘Above all football is about taking chances,’ Solari added. ‘You have to play well but in the key moments you have to take your chances.
‘When they had opportunities they hurt us. In football you have to pick yourself up immediately. We have to do that. We are sad.’
The Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde was quick to heap praise on his No 9 after the game
Real Madrid have another chance to beat Barcelona this weekend when they face them in La Liga.
They will hope 18-year-old striker Vinicius Jnr has better luck in front of goal. Most of Madrid’s first half chances fell to him and he could not take them.
Solari added: ‘ Vinicius can improve his finishing of course he can. He will get better with every game he plays.
‘They scored with their first shot. And with all the chances we had we don’t score. That’s what it comes down to.’
