Wayne Rooney must be sacked says Birmingham City fans after latest dire defeat
Birmingham City fans are demanding Wayne Rooney is sacked after they were outclassed by Sunderland.
The Blues were in the Championship play-off places when John Eustace was abruptly sacked and replaced by the Manchester United legend. Rooney told frustrated Birmingham fans, who were behind Eustace, to expect "no fear" football under his premiership.
However, after a positive 2-2 home draw against high-flying Ipswich Town in their last fixture, City fell to a fourth loss in five matches when goals from former Brummie Jobe Bellingham, an own goal from Dion Sanderson and a third from Adil Aouchiche secured an emphatic 3-1 victory for the Black Cats. After their latest set-back, Birmingham fans came for the ex-England captain on social media.

“Get Rooney out. What’s the point in waiting till January if we’re 24th and -46 goal difference. Hate to be pessimistic but Rooney has f***ed us,” said one angry City fan. “Our defence was solid under Eustace. We were organised and hard to beat. Give me that any day over the dross that’s being dished out at the moment. Rooney ain’t got it for me. Sick of him already,” a Eustace loyalist wrote.
A particularly angry fan put aside some time in their day to tweet the mother of all rants which said: “Rooney out. Sorry folks, but he's absolutely awful. defence were at fault. We are desperately missing [Kevin] Long.

"I'll be absolutely glad to get [Lee] Buchanan back as he's desperately missed on the right. Goals and corners given away to the opposition. That bench is horribly weak. Why bring [Scott] Hogan on? I don't like to bash the players but he's not good.
“Rooney ball isn't working. I knew Jobe [Bellingham] would score against us, and fair play to him not celebrating his goal. Refereeing, dubious. We kept getting cards we shouldn't have had and they're a dirty side. The positives being Koji Miyoshi's goal and his performance as well as Jordan James'. Both joint MOTM for Blues. Something needs to change and fast. One point out of 15 is relegation form.”
While one fan wrote a mini essay, an equally angry supporter said: “For once I have no words. He needs to be gone. No more give him a chance blah blah. Never had faith in him at all.”
Birmingham’s loss means they are residing in 16th position, but could drop as low as 19th if other results go against them.
