Wesley Fofana brutally wipes out Chelsea steward during win over Leeds

Chelsea star Wesley Fofana brutally wiped out a steward during his side's crucial 1-0 win over Leeds.

The Blues defender wrestled for the ball with Leeds star Wilfried Gnonto in the latter stages of the game. But Fofana was sent sprawling to the ground in the duel, and went hurtling into the steward, who subsequently clattered into one of her peers.

Fofana's appeal for a foul fell on deaf ears as the game raged on, and fans flocked to Twitter to make fun of his collision. One user said: "Fofana not even acknowledging that steward he tripped rubbed me the wrong way ngl."

A second person added: "Great tackle by Wes Fofana on the steward there haha." And a third fan quipped: "Thé steward dived. Fofana barely touched her."

Then another supporter mused: "That was so funny. Wesley properly took her out." The steward didn't stay grounded for long and some users praised her for her quick reflexes whilst condemning divers in the Prem.

A fan declared: "The female steward getting straight back up after Fofana takes her out, putting to shame the cheats on the pitch who would still be rolling round like they'd been shot." It was an eventful game for Fofana who scored the game's only goal to hand the Blues a much-needed victory.

Under-fire Blues boss Graham Potter must've breathed a huge sigh of relief when Fofana's powerful header rocked Leeds' net in the 52nd minute. It was Chelsea's first win since January, ending a poor run of form that's left them languishing in 10th spot.

The victory may have brought Potter some time as he seeks to turn the club's fortune around after their £323million spending spree.

It's the perfect preparation for the West Londoners going into their Champions League last 16 second leg clash against Borussia Dortmund, who beat them 1-0 in the first leg, on Tuesday March 7.
