The Hammers saw their initial approach for the Ghanaian winger turned down by the Dutch club last week.

Kudus’ current contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena is due to expire in 2025, and the player rejected the offer of a one-year extension by the club in April.

The 23-year-old finished last season top of Ajax’s scoring charts in all competitions, netting 18 times in 42 games as the club finished third behind PSV and Feyenoord in the Dutch top flight.

Kudus has played in Ajax’s opening two matches of the Eredivisie season.

He scored in Ajax’s 4-1 win over Heracles and provided an assist in their 2-2 draw against Excelsior.
