Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly made it clear that Manchester United have no intention of selling Donny van de Beek this summer. The Dutchman has endured a difficult first season in English football, with opportunities difficult to come by.

In total, Van de Beek has played just 326 minutes in the Premier League and hasn’t started a game in 2021.

That has led to some speculation about his future, with Netherlands manager Frank De Boer confirming the player isn’t happy with his current situation.

“He’s just focusing on his recovery on his ankle, and it’s not true that he asked Man Utd to leave,” De Boer told talkSPORT.

“His agent also told me that of course he’s not happy that he’s not playing. He’s only had two starts under Solskjaer and that’s not what he hoped for when he joined Man Utd.

“He’s not worried, of course he wants to play every game. But he’s not worried that he can’t succeed.

“He has to have a review after this year, asking where do I stand? Do I have a possibility to succeed here or not? Otherwise, I have to make a move.

“We will see where he’s heading next year, maybe he stays at Man Utd or maybe another club is interesting for him.”

However, according to the Sun, Solskjaer has recently held talks with the midfielder to inform there is no chance of a summer move.

The report claims that United have big plans for the £40million man and will reject any approaches during the summer window.

Former club Ajax have been linked with a potential move for Van de Beek, but the Red Devils are ready to turn down any bids.

Solskjaer has recently spoken about how the player’s form for Netherlands could translate to a more positive player back at club level.

“Sometimes, it’s natural that if you don’t play, you have injuries, you lose a bit of confidence, that spark,” the United boss said last month.

“You go away with your national team… I can talk from my own experience.

“Sometimes I went away to play with Norway and came back, just to get the feel about yourself back and feel better.

“He’s come back and, in training, he scored some absolute top, top goals that I’d be really proud of myself.

“It’s done him the world of good going away, scoring a goal for Holland.

“We hope we can see a lot of that for the next seven or eight weeks of the season and then to kick on again.”
