The Australian Open crowd inside Rod Laver Arena let their anger out towards Chairwoman and Board President of Tennis Australia Jayne Hrdlicka during the trophy ceremony for Novak Djokovic’s win over Daniil Medvedev.

And Tennis Australia received some criticism – including from Djokovic – about how they handled the quarantine period for players ahead of the tournament.

But the tournament was able to go ahead as planned with some memorable tennis being played over the course of the two weeks.

Naomi Osaka won her fourth Grand Slam in style while Djokovic reigned supreme Down Under once again.

Tennis Australia president Hrdlicka was given the stage to say a few words following Djokovic’s convincing victory over Medvedev.

But there were bizarre scenes when the American-born business executive mentioned the coronavirus vaccine rollout with large sections of the crowd choosing to boo her comments .

“With vaccinations on the way rolling out in many countries around the world, it’s now a time for optimism,” she said.

Parts of the crowd reacted in anger as they heckled loudly and for a long period of time.
