Naomi Osaka has confirmed her relations with Nike once again after the sportswear company have unveiled a pair of shoes designed by the tennis star. The NikeCourt Air Zoom GP Turbo ‘Naomi Osaka’ will be available soon in what sure looks to be a hit among supporters.

Osaka is currently enjoying some time away from the court after welcoming her first child to the world with her boyfriend Cordae Amari Dunston.

Though the Japanese star has not played in a professional match since last September, having withdrawn from the Australian Open in January, and hopes to return for next year’s tournament.

Osaka appears to have been busy whilst watching on from the sidelines though, with Nike revealing that they would be releasing a new pair of trainers in collaboration with the former World No 1.

The pair are predominantly red and yellow in colour, with different items of food and sketched packaging embossing the shoes. The official images of the trainers were posted on Twitter, prompting Osaka to quote retweet the post so that her 1.2million followers could catch a glimpse of what is to come.

The 25-year-old wrote: “They’re called snack packs, lol” followed by a series of food-related emojis. The tweet received over 1,500 likes, with many of Osaka’s fans excited about the release and congratulating the Japanese superstar.

One fan (@thegreatestana) wrote “Perfect! Drop soon?”, whilst another (@idontmindk) added “This design is kinda wild but they look fire at the same time!! Snack-themed shoes?? Count me in.”

Osaka has worked with Nike since 2019 and has somewhat led the way for collaborations with the company since Serena Williams retired from tennis in September 2022, who enjoyed plenty of success whilst sponsored by the company.

Osaka has released several collections with Nike over the years, with the new shoes just another chapter for the pair. T-shirts, shorts and hoodies have all been sold previously in collaboration with the four-time Grand Slam Champion.

Some tennis fans have voiced their concerns about Osaka returning to the court whilst trying to juggle her home life now that she is a mother, though the star bluntly responded to those doubts on Twitter on Friday – saying: “The people that are suddenly concerned about my career- There are plenty of male athletes with kids that are significantly less accomplished, you might want to worry about them instead. Thanks for the concern, might want to redirect it to someone that needs it though.”
