Novak Djokovic has pleaded with Roger Federer to reverse his decision to call quits on his tennis career. The 21-time Major champion has repeatedly spoken of his huge respect for Federer from the dozens of battles they had on the court through their careers.

Federer closed the final curtain on his career late on Friday night after announcing last week that he was unable to continue. It proved to be an emotional evening with both Djokovic and Rafael Nadal unable to hold back their tears.

Nadal admitted afterwards that he felt “an important part of my life is leaving” with Federer’s retirement. And Djokovic is also seemingly not ready for Federer to walk away from tennis for good.

Speaking after he and Matteo Berrettini put Team Europ 8-4 up over Team World with their doubles win over Jack Sock and Alex de Minaur, Djokovic jokingly pleaded with Federer to reverse his decision to retire. “I wanna say, there is always a hope that Roger will come back so we could play together again,” he said.
