Rafael Nadal faced a race to be fit for the ATP Finals after suffering a stomach injury at the Paris Masters.
The world No 1 takes on the defending champion Alexander Zverev at 8pm inside London’s O2 Arena.
And he is expecting no issues after spending the weekend practicing on the quick hard court.
“For me the main goal is to be healthy for Monday,” Nadal said ahead of the clash.
“I’m confident I can be competitive but you need to be 100 per cent ready. I hope to be serving every day.”
Meanwhile, Zverev scraped into the ATP Finals in seventh place but he is now wanting to finish the season with a bang.
“As everyone probably knows I didn’t have the best season I wanted to have, but I’m still top eight in the world and made London,” said Zverev.
“A lot of people would dream of that, so being with these guys is an unbelievable honour and I wanted to come back here and give myself a chance to retain my title. I want to play some good matches as well.”
