Dustin Poirier’s comprehensive victory over Conor McGregor came as no surprise to his wife Jolie.
The 32-year-old avenged his 2014 defeat to the Irishman with a flurry of punches in the second round of the bout which forced referee Herb Dean to wave off the contest.
The Diamond, who came into the fight as the underdog despite only losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov across his last eight bouts, also noted that he was expecting to win in style.
In what was an emotional display after his victory, Dustin stood at the side of the octagon to send a message while his partner told the world not to underestimate her husband.
She said during her celebrations in Abu Dhabi: “I told you.
“That’s the last time you’re gonna doubt my husband. I swear to god.”
With her husband telling spectators: “I’m happy but I’m not surprised.
“I put in the work. Conor took this result very professionally. He’s a pro.”
Before hinting at a trilogy fight by saying: “We’re 1-1.
“Maybe we have to do it again. I’m just happy. I’m happy in the place I’m in.
“I’m happy with the person I see in the mirror.”
"I'm gutted, it's a tough one to swallow," said the defeated McGregor.
"His leg kicks were good, my leg was dead and I wasn't as comfortable as I needed to be.
“I have to dust it off and come back."
