And what about Man United &#8216;diving&#8217;?: Listen to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off , Mail Sport&#8217;s new podcast\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bukayo Saka has become the first Arsenal player in 12 years to win the men&#8217;s PFA Young Player of the Year award, having edged out Erling Haaland to the gong.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Saka has been nominated for the past four seasons and has now finally been crowned as the victor for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Arsenal and England star was influential in Arsenal&#8217;s title bid, and was key in securing their return to Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>He has beat off competition from team-mate Gabriel Martinelli, as well as\u00a0Erling Haaland, Moises Caicedo, Evan Ferguson, and Jacob Ramsey.<\/p>\n<p>In winning the award\u00a0Saka is the first Arsenal player to win it since Leah Williamson in 2015, and since Jack Wilshere in 2011 for the men&#8217;s award.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/15\/74835489-12457321-image-a-16_1693320723793.jpg\" height=\"461\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Bukayo Saka has been crowned the PFA&#8217;s Young Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/15\/74837419-12457321-image-a-22_1693320808901.jpg\" height=\"424\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/15\/74837453-12457321-image-m-21_1693320794255.jpg\" height=\"424\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Saka beat off competition from star names such as Erling Haaland (left) and Moises Caicedo<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Saka s<span>cored a career<\/span><span>&#8211;<\/span><span>high 14 goals in the Premier League, along <\/span><span>with delivering 11 assists in his starring role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The young winger&#8217;s stock rose even further<\/span>\u00a0with three goals in England&#8217;s World Cup campaign in Qatar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Saka was the jewel of Arsenal&#8217;s crown last season &#8211; but team-mate Martinelli wasn&#8217;t far behind and made a strong case for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian scored\u00a015 goals and added five assists in a fine campaign. Had Martinelli won, he would have been the first Brazilian recipient of the PFA Young Player of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Caicedo, now at Chelsea following a \u00a3115million British record transfer, was an unsung hero at Brighton last season, while former team-mate Evan Ferguson enjoyed a breakout campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Ferguson\u00a0became the youngest Seagulls player to score in the Premier League at the age of 18 in a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal.
