{"id":286122,"date":"2023-09-03T21:53:18","date_gmt":"2023-09-03T21:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/?p=286122"},"modified":"2023-09-03T21:53:18","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T21:53:18","slug":"jose-bordalas-defends-delicate-decision-to-sign-mason-greenwood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/soccer\/jose-bordalas-defends-delicate-decision-to-sign-mason-greenwood\/","title":{"rendered":"Jose Bordalas defends &apos;delicate&apos; decision to sign Mason Greenwood"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Getafe boss Jose Bordalas defends &#8216;delicate&#8217; decision to sign Mason Greenwood on loan&#8230; as he claims the Man United striker&#8217;s move to Spain will help him get back to his best<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Mason Greenwood joins La Liga side Getafe on loan from Manchester United<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas has defended the &#8216;delicate&#8217; signing decision\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 and hasn&#8217;t played since\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mason Greenwood&#8217;s loan move to Getafe has been defended by head coach Jose Bordalas.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old was suspended by Manchester United in January 2022 over allegations relating to a young woman after images and videos were posted online.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood faced charges including attempted rape and assault, but the Crown Prosecution Service announced in February that the case had been discontinued.<\/p>\n<p>He has now joined Spanish side Getafe on loan, who are currently sitting fourteenth in the table.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the decision to sign the one-cap England international after his side&#8217;s 2-1 league defeat at Real Madrid on Saturday, Bordalas told a press conference: &#8216;It is a very delicate situation to trivialise that issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/03\/00\/74999773-0-image-a-14_1693695955375.jpg\" height=\"793\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mason Greenwood has completed a move to Getafe on loan from Manchester United<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/03\/00\/74999783-0-image-a-20_1693696721699.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Getafe boss Jose Bordalas has defended the club&#8217;s decision to sign the former England striker<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Everyone knows what happened and appropriate measures were taken. Everyone knows how it ended, with a non-convictory sentence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He is a footballer of a very high level and arrives at Getafe with enormous enthusiasm.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports suggest that United may try to reintergrate Greenwood into the first team squad after the conclusion of an internal investigation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However after massive backlash, particularly online, United r<span>evealed last week he would be leaving the club by mutual agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When asked further, Bordalas added: &#8216;I can only speak at a footballing level.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We all know the potential he has. He is a very young boy and we hope that he adapts to a very different League.
