Trent Alexander-Arnold\u00a0and Jack Grealish have been forced to withdraw from the England squad after suffering injury blows.<\/p>\n
Liverpool’s\u00a0Alexander-Arnold, 24, underwent medical tests on Monday morning after the stand-in captain limped off during Sunday’s match with Aston Villa at Anfield.<\/p>\n
Alexander-Arnold felt his hamstring muscle and was substituted, with him visibly in pain as he left the pitch in the second half.<\/p>\n
Manchester City forward Grealish, 27, missed their 5-1 win over Fulham on Saturday with a slight thigh injury and has subsequently pulled out of England duty too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Though it is unclear how serious Alexander-Arnold’s injury is at this stage, it was decided between club doctors and England that it was wise for him to withdraw from the upcoming fixtures against Ukraine and Scotland.<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp said after the win over Villa and good performance: ‘It would have been cool if Trent hadn’t had felt his hamstring. We will know more after a scan. Let’s hope it’s not serious.’<\/p>\n
Alexander-Arnold had been picked as a midfielder in Gareth Southgate’s squad and was said to be under consideration to play in central areas during the fixture against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Winger Grealish didn’t play against Fulham after suffering a ‘slight thigh injury’ but isn’t expected to be sidelined for too long.\u00a0<\/p>\n
England play their latest Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine in the Polish city of Wroclaw on Saturday before taking on Auld Enemy Scotland in a friendly at Hampden Park next Tuesday.<\/p>\n
A statement by the England camp read: ‘Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been ruled out of England’s September fixtures.<\/p>\n
‘The pair reported to St. George’s Park on Monday but have since withdrawn from the Three Lions squad following checks on injuries sustained prior to camp.<\/p>\n
‘All other players are due as planned apart from Kieran Trippier who will arrive on Wednesday owing to a personal commitment.<\/p>\n
‘There are no further call ups planned.’<\/p>\n
