While he has invested in Birmingham City, some fans are convinced the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star loves United. Last year, he posed for pictures with Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese forward scored a hat-trick in United’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham.

I'm down in Miami now, they're in Tampa. It's a 40-minute flight. So I'm hoping to catch some of their games, too, but I'm pulling for those guys. These are my brothers and football brings us all together.”

If he is a United fan, then he would find himself at odds with other supporters. United fans thought the reign of the Glazer family was coming to an end, when the club was put up for sale. There was significant interest from ‘Britain’s richest man’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari businessman Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, but no sale was made.

The club is now set to be taken off the market as the billionaire tycoons are reportedly holding out for a potential £10bn takeover.
