Tottenham have thanked Robbie Williams for dedicating a song to their manager Ange Postecoglou by sending the pop star and his wife personalised shirts.

Williams went viral last week after being recorded tweaking the lyrics to his hit song ‘Angels’. In the video, Williams is heard changing the final line of the chorus to ‘I’m loving Big Ange instead’ before declaring ‘guess I’m a Spurs fan now then’.

Tottenham are clearly happy to have him on board, and sent Williams a parcel that he opened in front of his followers on social media.

Having unwrapped the gift, the 49-year-old pulled out a home shirt with the name ‘Williams’ and the No 3 on the back.

That wasn’t all, as Spurs also sent his wife, American actress Ayda Field, an away shirt, this time with the name ‘Ayda’ and the No 3.

Williams was delighted with his present, finishing off the video by saying ‘COYS, absolute COYS’ (Come On You Spurs).

Postecoglou was asked for his thoughts on Williams’ song about him at his press conference last week.

The Australian was initially asked whether he knew who Williams was, leading to a hilarious response as he joked about being offended by the question, before revealing that he thought the reworked song was ‘great’.

He acknowledged that the song may have originally been started by some fans, and it could catch on if Spurs continue their strong start to the season.

The north London club have taken 10 points from their opening four games under Postecoglou to move into second place in the table.

Having lost their talisman Harry Kane on the eve of the season, there were concerns about how Tottenham would fare this year, but Postecoglou has quickly won the fans over with his attacking brand of football.

Victories over Manchester United, Bournemouth and Burnley have lifted spirits at the club after a dismal 2022-23 campaign, and Postecoglou has even got pop stars like Williams wanting to watch his side play.
