Liverpool will be keeping tabs on Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson with an eye to make a bid in the near future, according to Dirk Kuyt. Ferguson has been tipped for a bright future and he’s already made an impact in the Premier League for the Seagulls.

The teenage sensation netted a hat-trick last weekend in Brighton’s impressive 3-1 win over Newcastle. He’s only the fourth player in Premier League history to score three in the same game, following in the footsteps of Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler.

And Kuyt has tipped the Republic of Ireland starlet to go on and replicate Fowler and Owen by making the switch to Anfield. Ferguson will not be short of admirers with reports suggesting Brighton will be asking for a fee in the region of £100million.

Manchester City have already been strongly linked with the forward and Kuyt believes the entire Premier League elite will be keeping tabs on his development. Kuyt wants to see Ferguson continue his upwards trajectory before making a move elsewhere, but he believes the early signs are there for Liverpool to keep their eyes on him.

“Evan Ferguson looks dangerous to me! He’s in good form,” Kuyt told BettingSites.co.uk. “He’s an interesting player to watch, and I look forward to following him in the next couple of months.

“It is difficult to transfer your form from your club to your national team – especially when you play against stronger teams, and I’d say Holland are stronger. For me, he’s one of the ones to watch in the Premier League at the moment.

But from what I’ve seen so far, he could definitely be on the radar of the top sides.”

Liverpool may well be in the market for a new attacker next year with Saudi Arabia expected to try again in signing Mohamed Salah. With Al Ittihad prepared to pay a fee towards £200m for Salah, Liverpool would be able to use that money to sign Ferguson with plenty of change leftover.

The Saudi Pro League deadline closes tonight with Liverpool set to keep hold of Salah for now, but Jurgen Klopp may have to start preparing for life without the Egyptian.
