<\/p>\nManchester United are now in over \u00a31billion worth of debt amid the club's seemingly never-ending takeover saga.<\/p>\n
The Glazers, who put United up for sale in November 2022, are yet to find a buyer despite receiving bids of around \u00a35bn from two separate parties; British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari mogul Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.<\/p>\n
The American family, who were reportedly holding out for \u00a36bn, are now considering taking the Red Devils off the market in a move that will infuriate United fans, many of whom are desperate to see the backs of the owners, who have been in charge since 2005.<\/p>\n
The amount of debt held against the club is one of the main reasons the Glazers are so unpopular, and according to the Daily Mail, the total figure has now surpassed the \u00a31bn mark – up from \u00a3969million at the end of the second fiscal quarter.<\/p>\n

This is due to a combination of gross debt, bank borrowings and outstanding transfer fees, with the club bringing in \u00a3500m worth of new talent in the last 24 months.<\/p>\n
Total outstanding transfer fee cost has risen to \u00a3279.8m this year – up from \u00a3227.7m – and may rise further as the figure does not include the club\u2019s summer deals.<\/p>\n
While the club\u2019s principal debt remains at $650m, a change in the exchange rate meant the club owed \u00a3521.5m, compared to \u00a3535.7 earlier this year. Bank borrowings, meanwhile, fell slightly from \u00a3206.2m to \u00a3203.7m.<\/p>\n
