Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes slammed Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana after his calamitous error against Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n

After a bright start in their opening Champions League group game at the Allianz Arena, United\u2019s efforts were undone after Onana let a shot from Leroy Sane roll underneath him and into the back of the net.<\/p>\n
After exchanging passes with Harry Kane, the former Manchester City star let fly with a shot that was straight at the Cameroon international who should have dealt much better with the situation.<\/p>\n
United found themselves two goals down four minutes later with Serge Gnabry firing home after a cutback from Jamal Musiala.<\/p>\n
Assessing the error at half-time, former United defender Ferdinand described it as a \u2018nightmare scenario\u2019 for the man brought into replace David de Gea this summer.<\/p>\n
\u2018This is a nightmare scenario for Onana,\u2019 Ferdinand told TNT Sport. \u2018He is as confident as you like with his feet but as a goalkeeper you are expected to come in and makes saves.<\/p>\n
\u2018It is a great bit of skill from Sane to set it up well but he doesn\u2019t hit it with any real purpose. It is not wide of him, it is not in the corners.<\/p>\n

\u2018He should save this, he should be picking this up and looking for his next pass. It is a very, very bad mistake and one he needs to recover from.\u2019<\/p>\n
Onana\u2019s reaction was telling, left slumped on the pitch before being urged to his feet by Diogo Dalot.<\/p>\n
\u2018He knows he has made a big mistake,\u2019 United legend Scholes added.<\/p>\n
\u2018United played well for the first half but big lapses in concentration and they are two goals down. He needs to get over that quickly and concentrate.\u2019<\/p>\n
United pulled one back moments into the second-half with Rasmus Hojlund scoring his first goal for the club.<\/p>\n
Bayern restored their two-goal lead three minutes later however with Kane drilling home a penalty after Christian Eriksen was penalised for handball.<\/p>\n
