Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reigniting his interest in Khephren Thuram may ultimately depend on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. Juventus are on the hunt for a new midfielder ahead of the January transfer window, with Thuram joined by a Spurs star on the Bianconeri’s shortlist of options.

The Reds were linked with Thuram for the majority of the summer before reportedly pulling the plug due to OGC Nice’s asking price. But the 22-year-old is set to remain in high demand after making a strong start to the Ligue 1 season.

His performances in France have alerted Juve, with Corriere della Sera reporting that the Italian giants are keen on exploring a January move. Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also believed to be on their hit list.

With Liverpool watching on, Klopp will be desperate for Levy to cash in on Hojbjerg so that Thuram remains firmly on the market.

Klopp will hope that a lack of first-team action does not cause Juve’s interest to wane.

Liverpool signed no fewer than four midfielders during the summer, but the window still depleted Klopp’s numbers in the middle of the park due to a string of high-profile departures. Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita were among those to leave Anfield before the start of the season.

Thuram is therefore sure to remain a player of interest if his fine form continues in Ligue 1. The youngster could be available for a smaller fee than Nice demanded this summer as he approaches the final 18 months of his contract.

Reds defender Ibrahima Konate has already vouched publicly for the France international, saying: “I saw him in training and I was really surprised by his size and his technical ease. I would be very happy for him to come to Liverpool.”
