The Norwegian, ranked world no 4 in the world, is part of Team Europe for this weekend’s competition at Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome.

Before action gets underway on Friday, Hovland and his team-mates were going through a practice round on the course.

And on the fifth hole, which is 376 yards and a par 4,the Norwegian hit a thunderous tee shot which went all the way in.

While it was just a practice, this would have scored the 25-year-old an Albatross, which is the equivalent of three-under.

On the 376 yard par four fifth hole, the Norwegian’s thunderous tee shot went all the way in

After taking his tee shot, Hovland kept his focus on the ball, before he threw his club away when he realised it had gone in.

The Norwegian was then mobbed by his team-mates as the crowd watching on burst out into wild celebrations.

Upon approaching the green, Hovland then picked up the ball out of the hole and threw it into the crowd as he received a standing ovation.

While 376 yards it is a relatively short par 4, it was still a sensational shot from Hovland, although the effort during practice led to fans joking he had achieved the feat on the ‘wrong day’.

He will be hoping to improve upon his Ryder Cup record this year in what is his second appearance in the competition.

Back in 2021, during Europe’s heavy 19-9 defeat, Hovland picked up just one point, halving two and losing three of his five games.
