Wrexham beat Notts County to the National League title last season in an incredible year where both teams broke the English points record. Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were delighted when Notts County joined them in the EFL after earning promotion via the playoffs, but their fans weren’t as keen on Wrexham after a long season.

The hit series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has been a global success, and now the Welsh soccer team is actively followed in hundreds of countries.

Reynolds and McElhenney have completely transformed the club since taking over as owners and ended their 15-year absence from the EFL last season after they were crowned champions. After earning promotion Reynolds and McElhenney pledged to be Notts County fans, and even argued that both teams should be automatically promoted after reaching 100 points.

Season two of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has now been released, and the owners attempted to involve the Notts County Supporters Group in their documentary to show love to their rivals. However, in a hilarious clip in the new series they received a savage reply as their request was denied.

Don’t miss… Reynolds and McElhenney decided to include their denial rather than just ignore it, and shared the savage response in an episode. “No. Shove your shite documentary up your arse,” the message read from the supporters group.

The owners laughed hysterically when bringing it up, and it’s unlikely that they’re that keen on Notts County this season as their rivals are top of League Two. Wrexham is still performing well and currently sits in seventh, but Notts County has made an amazing start to what is meant to be a tougher division.

Reynolds and McElhenney congratulated Notts County when they sealed promotion, following a tense playoff final at Wembley Stadium. But they were rooting for them the whole way after announcing: “It’s something Rob and I feel quite strongly about,” he said.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. We want to see them go up to League Two and face them next year. They’re incredible.” And they even challenged the promotion structure of the entire division to try and help their rivals who had to settle for second place.

“I have such enormous respect for everything they’ve built and everything that they’ve done and it’s just insane for me that only one goes up automatically,” Reynolds said. “If it were different – and I think it should be – both of these clubs would be celebrating together right now.

“Because what they’ve done is not only created drama greater than anything you’d see in a damn movie but just something I think people will be talking about for ages.” Both teams are now thriving, and unlikely to go back down anytime soon.
