Coco Gauff has admitted that her short break from tennis after winning her first Grand Slam title at the US Open\u00a0was “a little bit weird.” The 19-year-old took a short seven-day hiatus from the sport after the win but struggled to relax.<\/p>\n
Gauff’s US Open win came following an impressive display against\u00a0World No. 1 opponent Aryna Sabalenka in three sets\u00a0back in early September. The American got off to a shaky start and lost the first set 6-2 at the Flushing Meadows tournament.<\/p>\n
The current World No. 3 then dug deep to claw back before winning the last two sets, 6-3, 6-2, in a dominant display to claim her first-ever Grand Slam title. The win saw the 19-year-old become the youngest American to reach the final of the tournament since\u00a0Serena Williams\u00a0back in 1999 – who lifted the trophy at 17 years old.<\/p>\n
After recording the victory, Gauff took a short break away from the sport but has since admitted that was quickly itching to get back to her winning ways. The Florida-born star is targeting more success at the upcoming China Open.<\/p>\n

“Once I got home, it was pretty chill,” Gauff told reporters at the China Open Media Day,\u00a0per\u00a0WTA Tennis.\u00a0“I took a week off, which is the longest I’ve ever taken off from tennis. It was a little bit weird having nothing to do.<\/p>\n
“Then we had a little celebration with all my friends and family could go to in Florida. After that, right back to training and back to getting back to work, which honestly, I was eager to get back. A week was a long time for me to take off.”<\/p>\n
Gauff went on to admit that she is already looking to the future and isn’t one to rest on her laurels.<\/p>\n

I know I have lots of tennis left in me. I don’t want to just dwell on this. It was amazing, but it’s time to move on.”<\/p>\n The American is next in action when she faces\u00a0Ekaterina Alexandrova\u00a0at the China Open on Oct. 2\u00a0in the opening round of 64.<\/p>\n
