Mail Sport columnist Chris Sutton believes Michael Beale’s Rangers sacking was karma and that he runs his mouth too much in a lengthy tirade.

Beale was dismissed at Ibrox on Sunday following their poor start to the season.

Saturday’s 3-1 defeat by Aberdeen, their third in only seven league games, was greeted with boos by the home supporters with Beale’s popularity at an all-time low before he was given his marching orders the next day.

During his time in Glasgow, Beale had taken aim at Celtic legend Sutton labelling him ‘Chelsea’s worst-ever player’ following an ill-fated season at the Blues in 1999-00 before he joined the Bhoys in a trophy-laden six-year spell at the club.

And reflecting on Beale’s disappointing management spell at Rangers, Sutton didn’t hold back on Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast.

‘I think he must have some sort of talent as a coach but I think this is a life lesson for him,’ he said. ‘He should’ve learned lessons from across the city with Ange Postecoglou – who he actually called ‘lucky Ange’.

‘Celtic will feel they’ve been lucky that Michael Beale has been at Rangers as recently when he’s been in charge they’ve absolutely wiped the floor with Rangers. I do think the it was the end for him when they lost to Aberdeen.

‘He was a bit like a London cockney car salesman going up there with all the chat promising a Ferrari, but you get a spluttering three-wheeler.

In the end he talked too much. The most important currency in Glasgow is winning. The Glasgow goldfish bowl swallowed him up. He went in bullish and tried to appease the Rangers fans with all the talk of culture.

‘I didn’t like the way he seemingly took great credit for Rangers’ league title success when he was Steven Gerrard’s assistant manager. He thought he was the brains behind the operation and this Mourinho-type figure up there. He got away with things last season as it wasn’t his team.

‘You need longer than seven games to judge players in fairness to him, but the fact that the hierarchy did so tells you that they didn’t trust him.’
