Cantley’s trip to Italy has ended on a happier note following America’s Ryder Cup loss

The sleeveless dress was teamed with diamond drop earrings and a white veil, while the elegant bride opted for a chic up-do hairstyle.

Cantlay went public with the relationship back in 2021, with the couple announcing their engagement one year later.

Guidish had been in Rome in the lead-up to the wedding to support her now husband during the Ryder Cup.

‘The start to an amazing week with incredible people,’ she wrote on social media alongside a selection of photos from the Ryder Cup’s opening gala on the eve of the tournament getting underway.

Cantlay in the pictures was seen wearing a cap with the American flag on.

Part of the controversy that surrounded him at the Ryder Cup was his decision to refuse to wear a team cap.

He denied this, as when asked if he’d wear it for a team photo, he said: ‘The hat doesn’t fit. It didn’t fit at Whistling Straits [in 2021], and didn’t fit this week. Everyone knows that.

‘I was going to go no hat all week regardless, so I figured would I keep it consistent.’

American team-mate Xander Schauffele’s father, Stefan, though claimed the reason that Cantlay was not wearing a cap during the 2023 Ryder Cup was because he didn’t want to ruin his wedding photos with a golfer’s tan line across his face.

Cantlay’s decision though ultimately sparked taunts from the home crowd and eventually led to a furious row involving Rory McIlroy and Cantlay’s caddie Joe LaCava.

The caddie took off his cap and waved it in the air when Cantlay made a decisive putt on 18 in the crucial last four-ball match, which seemingly irked McIlroy.

LaCava was hitting back at the fans who had been taunting Cantlay all day, waving their hats in the air and chanting ‘where’s your cap?’

The Northern Irishman had reportedly asked LaCava, thought to be 68, ‘politely’ to move out the way, yet the caddie continued to ignore the request for some time.

Cantlay’s caddie Joe LaCava sparked a fierce row with Rory McIlroy (left) on the second day of the Ryder Cup

That subsequently sparked an altercation in the car park following the day’s play, with McIlroy being seen in a video clashing with Justin Thomas’ caddie Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay, after he clashed with LaCava on the 18th green.

He could be heard shouting ‘This can’t happen, this can’t happen – it’s a f*****g disgrace,’ with a security guard forced to step in before teammate Shane Lowry guided him to a waiting BMW 4×4.

After winning the Ryder Cup, McIlroy said: ‘Walking off the 18th yesterday (Saturday) was probably the angriest I’ve ever been in my career. I said it to the US guys, I thought it was disgraceful what went on and I made that clear.’

McIlroy also denied reports that he met up with LaCava for a clear-the-air meeting.
