Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is set for a period on the sideline after spraining his left ankle during the team’s 1-0 Champions League win over Porto.

Initial reports suggest Lewandowski could be out for over a month, meaning he will miss Barca’s El Clasico clash with Real Madrid.

The Pole was scythed down by Portugese defender David Carmo but the injury was initially reported as just bruising.

The Pole could be ruled out for up to a month, missing eight games, with a left ankle sprain

Lewandowksi could miss La Liga games against Granada, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad and Alaves, as well as El Clasico and a Champions League double header against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Catalans are without a direct replacement for the 35-year-old, however former Manchester City man Ferran Torres would be the likely deputy.

Torres did score the only goal in the Champions League clash with Porto, but will have to be ready to shoulder the goalscoring burden.

The Blaugrana are facing somewhat of an injury crisis up front already, with former Leeds winger Raphina also injured.

This leaves boss Xavi with just Torres, Joao Felix and 16-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal available for the foreseeable future.
