Ben Shelton shared a light-hearted moment with the umpire during his debut win at the Shanghai Masters. The 19th seed earned a break against Jaume Munar on a correct challenge in the second set before discussing the call with chair official John Blom. The pair traded jokes before Shelton claimed he had the \u201cworst eyes on tour\u201d, going on to win 6-4 6-4.<\/p>\n
Shelton was making his debut at the Shanghai Masters, receiving a bye to the second round where he faced world No 82 Munar. The American came through the first set thanks to a single break and he looked to pounce on his opponent\u2019s serve again in the second set.<\/p>\n
Holding break points at 3-3, Munar hit a second serve that Shelton thought was long, correctly challenging it and winning the game. As he approached the bench for the changeover, he quizzed the umpire about the point. \u201cYou thought it was in?\u201d the 20-year-old asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t think it was in but I thought it was really close,\u201d Blom responded as Shelton showed his understanding. \u201cYou couldn\u2019t see close enough to overturn it?\u201d he added, with the official replying: \u201cExactly.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a good point.\u201d While the chair official didn\u2019t have a good enough view of the serve to make a call, he did have an opinion on a different shot during the previous game.<\/p>\n \u201cGood you didn\u2019t waste it [a challenge] on that one there,\u201d he told Shelton, laughing.
