Former Rangers star\u00a0Michael Mols has announced he has undergone an operation on a brain tumour in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
Mols, who played for the Scottish giants between 1999 and 2004, revealed the shock news in a post on Instagram.<\/p>\n
The 52-year-old shared a photo following his operation, where he was seen lying in a hospital bed with a bandage around his head.<\/p>\n
Mols also is seen raised two thumbs up in the photo, with the Dutchman insisting he is remaining positive.<\/p>\n
The former striker has thanked staff at the hospital for taking care of him.<\/p>\n

Mols played for Rangers between 1999 and 2004 with the Dutch star winning two league titles<\/p>\n

‘Brain tumour operation, done it!’ Mols wrote. ‘Next step: recovery, giving 100 per cent, staying positive!<\/p>\n
‘Everybody who took care of me or look after me from Amsterdam UMC, THANK YOU!’<\/p>\n
Mols enjoyed a successful spell at Rangers where he scored 45 goals in 126 appearances for the club after joining from Dutch side Utrecht in 1999.<\/p>\n
He won the Scottish Premier League title in 2000 and 2003, when the Gers were coached by Dick Advocaat and Alex McLeish respectively.<\/p>\n
Mols also won two Scottish Cups and the Scottish League Cup on two occasions, scoring 14 goals in all competitions as Rangers achieved a domestic Treble in 2003.<\/p>\n
The striker, who was capped six times by the Netherlands, returned to\u00a0Utrecht in 2004.<\/p>\n
Peter Lovenkrands, who played alongside Mols at Rangers, was among those to offer their best wishes.<\/p>\n

Mols, left holding his son, was part of Rangers treble winning team during the 2002-03 season\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Stay strong my friend, thoughts are with you, speedy recovery,’\u00a0Lovenkrands wrote.<\/p>\n
‘Get well soon my friend,’ added Pedro Mendes, another Rangers fan favourite.<\/p>\n
Mols and Mendes had played alongside each other during the six-a-side\u00a0Masters Football tournament in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
Roy Carroll, Alan Hutton, Carlos Cuellar, Lee McCulloch, Barry Ferguson and Kris Boyd also feature among the squad of Gers legends.<\/p>\n
