The transfer fee required for Bayern Munich to poach Harry Kane from Tottenham is lower than widely reported, according to club chief Uli Hoeness. The England captain has hit the ground running in Germany with a string of goal contributions in his first few games.

Any uncertainty surrounding how Kane would cope with a move abroad was quickly dispelled. The 30-year-old has rattled in eight goals and racked up four assists in his first seven Bundesliga games, with two goal contributions in the Champions League to boot.

Kane ditched Spurs during the summer after almost two decades on the books, with the striker desperate to kick-start his silverware cabinet. Despite the fact he only had one year left on his contract, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy drove a hard bargain in an effort to extract the maximum from Bayern.

Although it was widely believed that the Bavarian giants shelled out £100million to lure Kane away from west London, Hoeness tells a different story.

Bayern will ultimately have bagged themselves a bargain if Kane continues to score at his current rate.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. Ange Postecoglou’s side will spend the next two weeks at the top of the Premier League table.

A hard-fought victory over Luton Town on Saturday, during which Yves Bissouma was sent off, continued their unbeaten start to the campaign. Spurs are above Arsenal on goals scored heading into the international break, with six wins and two draws from their first eight league games.

While many expected Richarlison to step into Kane’s shoes and shoulder most of the attacking burden this term, the responsibility has actually fallen on new skipper Son Heung-min.

Only Erling Haaland has bagged more Premier League goals than the South Korean in 2023/24, with Son adding to his haul every 105 minutes on average.
