<\/p>\nSheikh Jassim\u00a0bin Hamad Al Thani has reportedly offered David Beckham a role at Manchester United if his bid to buy the club is successful. Beckham is said to be considering the proposition, however, the Qatari banker is unlikely to be able to tempt fellow Red Devils legends Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand into taking up ambassadorial duties as he looks to improve the atmosphere around the club. Both men admit they currently have too much on their plates to consider extra responsibility.<\/p>\n
Ferdinand spoke with United executives during their search for a technical director four years ago and claimed he would be “f***ing unbelievable” in such a role. But the 44-year-old says he would no longer be able to take up such a demanding position with his attention diverted elsewhere.<\/p>\n
When asked if he was still keen on the job last year, he said: “Not really, no. I am happy with what I am doing in regards to punditry, being involved in a management company and the WeAre8 stuff as well.<\/p>\n
“I am happy. I am busy doing stuff. If the club ever needed me, I’d always be open to that conversation because of my love for the club, but I think the same could be said of any former player who played for the club.”<\/p>\n

Neville also ruled out taking up a role at the club in 2018. The former United defender claims he is “not fit” to work for a club like Manchester United as he hasn’t proved himself as an “incredible sporting director”.<\/p>\n
Neville has focused his energy on punditry and hasn’t held a coaching position since 2016 when he briefly managed Valencia for four months. The 48-year-old is still the co-owner of League Two club Salford City alongside\u00a0Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, and Beckham which also takes up a lot of his time.<\/p>\n
