You were a disappointment Hojlund, good luck&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Di Maio&#8217;s comments come after Hojlund told reporters: &#8216;I feel they targeted me, as you can see at the end.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I understand Italian and I could hear them saying that they had the idea to crush me.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Man United striker then took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to further vent his frustrations with the San Marino players.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On his story, Hojlund wrote: &#8216;We do so much everyday to be the best version of yourself and keep fit for so many games. This behaviour from San Marino last night, trying to injure me was unacceptable!&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/18\/13\/76699873-12644699-Hojlund_took_to_social_media_to_vent_his_frustrations-a-7_1697632000542.jpg\" height=\"541\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/18\/13\/76699867-12644699-The_United_forward_labelled_San_Marino_s_actions_as_unacceptable-a-8_1697632000557.jpg\" height=\"541\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>The United forward also took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to vent his frustrations with the &#8216;unacceptable&#8217; tackles from the San Marino players<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/18\/13\/76696955-12644699-Denmark_defender_Simon_Kjaer_said_some_of_the_tackles_on_Hojlund-a-9_1697632009645.jpg\" height=\"379\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Footage from the match showed a San Marino player launching into the back of Hojlund (left)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/18\/13\/76705299-12644699-image-a-21_1697632236211.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Roberto Di Maio (L), pictured during San Marino&#8217;s clash with Ireland this month, was quick to refute Hojlund&#8217;s claims via a post onto his Instagram page<\/p>\n<p>Fellow San Marino defender Alessandro Tosi, prior to Di Maio&#8217;s post, dismissed the claims but conceded San Marino players were annoyed by Hojlund&#8217;s celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The Dane shushed the San Marino defenders after putting his side ahead, a gesture which didn&#8217;t exactly win him any friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;That&#8217;s not true,&#8217; Tosi told reporters when asked about Hojlund&#8217;s claims.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We only told him that he was not behaving properly.\u00a0What he did was not necessary. He is a very strong striker, but he was not fair at all.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;<span>I haven&#8217;t lost respect for him completely, but we expected better behaviour. His behaviour when celebrating was unacceptable.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tosi also suggested it was strange to hear a Premier League player complain about a physical approach.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Hojlund plays in a league against defenders who are far more skilled, physical and tougher than us, so he should be used to these kinds of duels,&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Denmark defender Simon Kjaer backed his teammate&#8217;s version of events and noted that some of the tackles were reminiscent of the one that saw Neymar\u00a0break a vertebra at the 2014 World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t nice things they said [to Rasmus],&#8217; he told Danish media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They deliberately tried to hurt him. What was said, I still think should stay on the field.
