Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named in Liverpool's starting XI for the Merseyside Derby against Everton, despite "cheating death" earlier this week.

The Reds and England defender was involved in a car crash and had to slam on the breaks on his £90,000 range rover when a 40 foot electricity pylon fall to the ground in winds of up to 70mph. Pictures obtained by The Sun showed a car badly damaged by the scary incident.

Alexander-Arnold's car ended up hitting a BMW X5 which had been damaged by the pylon, which came to a rest by the side of the road. It all happened on a wet country lane near Knutsford, Cheshire, during the height of Storm Babet, which has caused massive disruption and claimed lives this week.

Thankfully, the 25-year-old defender emerged unscathed from the incident. And it seems he has shrugged off the terrifying moment, with Jurgen Klopp opting to start Alexander-Arnold against Everton on Anfield.

Klopp selected Alexander-Arnold in his trademark right-back position with Kostas Tsimikas filling on on the left following the news that Andy Robertson would be missing until 2024. Alisson remains in goal, while Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk continue their familiar centre-half pairing.

The Reds line up against Everton with a midfielder three of Alexis Max Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, who has taken to life at Anfield like a duck to water. Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota make up the front three.

Victory for the Reds at home to their neighbours could lift them to top spot in the Premier League, with Tottenham and Arsenal playing later in the weekend. Three points for Everton would move them up to 13th in the table.
