The grandson of Manchester United legend Lou Macari scored his first professional goal in English football after notching a late winner in Notts County’s League Two victory over Gillingham on Saturday.<\/p>\n
21-year-old Lewis Macari came off the bench in the 16th-minute after County boss Luke Williams was forced into making an early injury substitution.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Macari was tasked with helping to keep the goals out of his net but instead popped up at the other end to score with a thumping strike that won the match for the visitors.<\/p>\n
His grandfather, Lou, is an icon at Old Trafford after making 400 appearances for the English giants between 1973 and 1984, during which time he played with the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best.<\/p>\n
Macari scored 94 goals during his stellar career at United and helped the club win the FA Cup and first division title, along with other team and inidivudal honours.<\/p>\n

Now his grandson is taking his first steps into professional football and opened his League Two goals account for County at the Priestfield stadium that ensures they keep the pressure on Stockport at the top of the table.<\/p>\n
The defender was teed up on the edge of the box by team-mate\u00a0Dan Crowley and didn’t think twice before smashing his shot first-time with deadly precision.<\/p>\n
Macari’s powerful effort sailed through a crowded penalty box before nestling in the top corner as Gills keeper Jake Turner stretched helplessly to reach the thunderous shot.<\/p>\n
The travelling supporter were sent into pandemonium as Macari salvaged three points for County in their 5,000th EFL match.<\/p>\n
Reacting to his goal afterwards, Macari explained the moment was ‘all a blur’.<\/p>\n
‘I’ve pushed on and Dan’s just laid it off. I’ve seen it coming, and I’ve just hit it,’ he told BBC Radio Nottingham.<\/p>\n

‘I actually thought the ‘keeper might have saved it because he got a hand, but he’s put it into the side of the net.<\/p>\n
‘After that, it was all a blur – I don’t even know what celebration I’ve done! I was absolutely buzzing and I couldn’t believe it to be honest. It’s an unbelievable moment.<\/p>\n
‘I remember just looking round and screaming, and looking at all the faces in the ground. I don’t even think I did a celebration – I just jumped and ran around.<\/p>\n
‘It was my first league goal in England so it was a big moment for me.’<\/p>\n
