Jamie Carragher has argued Tottenham fans will be ‘delighted’ should their side finish in the Champions League spots at the end of the season.

Spurs have had an electric start to this season’s campaign, going unbeaten and could go top of the league with a win against Fulham.

It is a welcome respite from the dour football often played under Nuno Espirito Santo, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, Carragher highlighted how a Champions League spot is still a good result come the end of the season.

Also on MNF was Wolves manager Gary O’Neil who addressed Spurs success under Ange Postecoglou.

Jamie Carragher insisted Spurs fans would be happy should they qualify for the Champions League

Tottenham have been electric so far this season and are currently unbeaten in the league

Carragher insisted: ‘I don’t think most Spurs supporters you speak to, I don’t think they are getting too carried away in terms of thinking about the title.

‘I think you’d be delighted about the Champions League positions. But when you look at that near the bottom, they were in a great position this time last year, they finished eighth.

‘But its not just about results here it’s about the football they’re playing, and the fact that Tottenham supporters are going to the game looking forward to watching their team play – which it has been, maybe not so much under Conte, but maybe under Jose, Nuno – all a certain kind of manager and that’s where the excitement comes from.’

Former Bournemouth boss O’Neil was the guest on Sky, and he spoke at length about the change in Spurs style and how the team compares with Man City and Arsenal

O’Neil said: ‘Ange is uncompromising in what he wants. And he will not change it for anybody.

‘They’re going to go about it in their way and they won’t adapt to what another team does or say “oh it’s Man City today we’re going to come off of this” and it’s going to be his way no matter what and without the ball they’re unbelievably aggressive, just go after every ball.

‘It’s been a really impressive start as you say, a long season but a lot of work still to do, but yeah a really impressive start.

‘The difference between Spurs, Man City and Arsenal is generally how fluid it is.

‘Generally with Arsenal you know Zinchenko is going to be inside working as a pivot, with spurs the only players that are fixed are the centre-backs and the wingers and the rest are just free to roam around and you could get a full back as an eight, or down as a double pivot – very hard to stop when you’re not sure where every one is going to be.’

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil was on the show and showed his admiration for Ange Postecoglou

Postecoglou has taken to life in North London incredibly well, and is a popular manager so far
