Jude Bellingham continued his sensational start to life in Spain with a performance for the ages in his El Clasico debut as he helped Real Madrid come back from a goal down to beat Barcelona 2-1 in stoppage time – but UK fans were unable to watch the match at all. Bellingham’s first few months with Real have been the stuff of dreams and he took that one step further on Saturday in his first match against the club’s bitter rivals Barcelona.

For any Real player, making their mark against Barcelona is the ultimate goal to endear themselves to the club’s supporters. Bellingham has already done that in just a few weeks having scored an incredible 11 goals and provided three assists in all competitions leading up to the game against Barcelona.

He’s already come up clutch on three occasions for the Spanis giants, including two stoppage-time winners against Getage and Union Berlin. But he’s now ensured he will go down in Real folklore by delivering once again in El Clasico.

Real were staring at a possible 1-0 defeat until Bellingham equalised with a 30-yard screamer. And he helped Real pick up all three points as he scored the winning goal from close range in the 92nd minute.

Unfortunately for British fans hoping to tune into the first El Clasico of the season, they were unable to watch the match live in the UK. The match was scheduled at 3.15pm BST and the blackout rule in the UK meant that no broadcasters were able to show the match live.

The blackout rule has been in place since the 1960s with football authorities in the UK looking to promote attendances inside stadiums. But the blackout rule has been criticised in recent years, particularly for matches outside of the UK.
